Category: Butterfly Valves

A butterfly valve is a valve which can be used for isolating or regulating flow. The closing mechanism takes the form of a disc. Operation is similar to that of a ball valve, which allows for quick shut-off. Butterfly valves are generally favoured because they are lower in cost than other valve designs as well as being lighter in weight, meaning less support is required.

How do I choose the right butterfly valve for my process?

Selecting the correct butterfly valve depends on several factors:

  • Media type and compatibility (chemical, slurry, gas, etc.)
  • Operating pressure and temperature
  • Flow control requirements (on/off vs modulating)
  • Pipe connection type (wafer, lug, flanged)
  • Material specifications for body, disc, and seat

ESI have extensive knowledge and experience and are distributors of Ebro Armaturen Butterfly valves.  Our team will be happy to assist you in identifying the correct valve for your application.

What maintenance is required for butterfly valves to ensure long-term performance?

Butterfly valves are known for low maintenance requirements, but routine inspections are essential to ensure reliable operation over time. We always recommend following the manufacturers IOM.  Maintenance includes:Ebro Butterfly Valve with Ebro Actuator - ESI Technologies Group

  • Periodic visual inspections for leaks, corrosion, and seat wear
  • Inspecting and replacing seals or seats if signs of wear or degradation are present – view our video tutorial here
